Commuting from Ballard, WA

With Ballard being primarily residential and retail-centered, many of its residents commute into other parts of the city for work—and fortunately, Ballard commute times are more than manageable. Here are routes and commute times to popular commuting destinations:

Ballard to downtown Seattle commute:
By car: Drive south on Shilshole Ave. NW to 15th Ave. W and then to Elliot Ave. W. The trip will take 20 to 40 minutes, depending on traffic.

By bus: The line 40 bus will get you from Ballard to downtown Seattle in 33 minutes. From Ballard Yards, walk 3 minutes east on Market St. NW to the bus stop at Market St. and Ballard Ave.

Ballard to Bellevue commute:
By car: Get on I-5 S from Market St. NW, then hop onto WA-520 E to Bellevue. The trip will take between 35 and 60 minutes, depending on traffic.

By bus: Take the 44 bus to U District Station, and transfer to line 271. The trip will take about 75 minutes.

Ballard to Redmond commute:
By car: Get on I-5 S from Market St. NW, then take WA-520 to West Lake Sammamish Pkwy NW in Redmond. The trip will take 35 to 70 minutes, depending on traffic.

By bus: Take the 44 bus to U District Station, and transfer to line 542. The trip will take about 65 minutes.
